Future Judges
Future Judges initiative:
Through this initiative, SJC aims to adopt a group of students from the College of Law at Qatar University to qualify them for appointment as assistant judges and educate them on the ethics of the judicial career and the judiciary. The objective of this is to raise the number of Qataris in the judicial sector and to create a special environment capable of attracting the best judicial cadres and embracing the Qatari identity through judicial work.
This initiative also aims at refining the legal skills among the students of the College of Law, instilling the values and traditions of the judiciary among these students, providing them with the practical skills that must be available to judges, and encouraging them to join the judicial work.
During 2021, the initiative aimed to nominate 100 students, and in this regard, interviews were held with 30 students from the College of Law at Qatar University, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and representatives of the Law College. The number of students enrolled in the Future Judges Program is five, and the activities of the Program start from the beginning of each academic semester.
The general conditions for enrolling in the Future Judges Program are as follows:
- The student must be a Qatari national.
- The student must have completed 45 hours, which is equivalent to one university year.
- The student’s GPA must Doha, Qatar not be less than 3 at the time of graduation.
- There should not be an academic warning issued due to a disciplinary measure in his file.
- The student must pass the first interview successfully (the interview must be held in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Supreme Judicial Council) and the Council may call the student for an interview at any time.
- The student must sign the nomination paper and acknowledge that this desire is not binding on the Supreme Judicial Council, and the Council has the right to withdraw the nomination according to what it deems appropriate and without the slightest responsibility towards others.
- The student must adhere to the Code of Conduct as set by the Council.
- The support period is for two years.
