​The training workshop, held by the Supreme Judiciary Council, in cooperation with the Public Prosecution and the Legal and Judicial Studies Centre at the Ministry of Justice, under the title of "Legal and Judicial Qualification in Qatar" was concluded today. The workshop was attended by a number of judges, prosecutors, experts and trainers of Legal and Judicial Studies Centre at the Ministry of Justice.

​The first two-day meeting of the Supreme Court for Vice Presidents of GCC countries, held in the Doha Hilton, ended today and issued several recommendations, namely: Submitting the draft strategic plan for the Supreme Courts and Courts of Cassation in GCC countries to the second regular meeting of Their Excellencies, the Presidents of the Supreme Courts and Courts of Cassation, and considering the possibility of including in the plan cooperation in the field of judicial inspection and setting a five-year period for the implementation thereof.

​A number of Qatari judges recently completed a training course in Washington DC, organised by the American International Judiciary Academy. The course included an introduction to the American justice system,  a discussion about its experience in the field of alternative means of dispute resolution, an assessment of the feasibility of these means to facilitate the procedures for settling disputes from a practical perspective, resulting from the American experience in this regard, in addition to the mechanisms that help transfer this experience to litigation in Qatar.

​H.E. Mr Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judiciary Council participated in the first conference of Asia-Pacific countries on environmental law, which was held in Putrajaya, Malaysia from 11-12 December 2013, at the invitation of H.E. Tun Arifin bin Zakaria, President of the Supreme Federal Court in Malaysia. The conference is held in cooperation between Malaysia's Supreme Federal Court and the United Nations Environment Programme, aiming to launch constructive dialogue for supporting environmental law. The agenda of the conference focuses on the positive impact of law on development and the environment.

​A number of Qatari judges recently concluded a training course in the Canadian capital, Ottawa, organised by the Canadian National Judicial Institute. The training course included an introduction to the  Canadian justice system, discussion of its experience in dealing with the social context, faulty condemnation cases, scientific statements of specialists, evidence of witnesses and statements from third parties, in addition to deep searches about assessing the credibility of witnesses and the independence of the judiciary. The programme also included field visits to the Canadian Federal Supreme Court, Ontario Supreme Court and some of its courts of first instance. Judges attended trial sessions and met with some senior judges.

​Within his current official visit to the US, H.E. Judge Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judiciary Council, and his accompanying delegation, met individually with H.E. Judge Jeremy Fogel, Director of the US Federal Judicial Centre, H.E. Judge John Bates, Director General of the Federal Department of US Courts, concerned with the Administrative Affairs of US Courts, Dr James Apple, Director General of the US International Judicial Academy, and Dr Jeffery Apperson, Executive President of the US International Association of Courts Management. During these meetings, the parties discussed ways of exchanging expertise, training opportunities and capacity building programmes to be provided by the American side, as well as the latest techniques in case management, courtrooms, buildings and archives.

​A number of Law College students at Qatar University visited the Supreme Judiciary Council on Sunday 04/05/2014.

The programme of the visit included attending a criminal circuit hearing at the Appeal Court, then meeting the President of the Circuit, Judge Ibrahim Saleh Al Nesf. Their enquiries were discussed and responded to.

​At the invitation sent to him to visit Turkey, H.E. Mr Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judiciary Council, and the accompanying delegation met with H.E. Judge Ali Alkan, President of the Court of Cassation yesterday in the Turkish capital,  Ankara, and discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination in the legal and judicial fields between judiciary authorities in the two friendly countries, particularly in the field of judicial training and experiences of alternative solutions to settle disputes and exchange provisions of the courts of cassation in both countries. His Excellency also met separately with Ms Zerrin Güngör, President of the Turkish Council of State, and Mr Hüseyin Yıldırım, Dean of the Turkish Judicial Academy, and discussed matters related to judicial cooperation between the two friendly countries, particularly in the fields of exchanging visits and development of competences of judges and court assistants.

​​H.E. Mr Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judiciary Council, inaugurated the new version of the website of the Supreme Judiciary Council. The website includes different sections and various e-services, in addition to information about the Courts of Cassation, Appeal and First Instance. The list of e-services includes a search option by the case number to make it easy for litigants to monitor their cases and review the schedule of case hearings. The list also includes the names of lawyers, court assistants and marriage officials. The website provides forms for courts of different levels and the option to register for the “Ikhtar" (notification) service, which enables litigants to receive an SMS as a reminder for hearing dates. The website also includes guidelines to explain the procedures of litigation and frequently asked questions regarding the various phases of litigation.

​H.E. Mr Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Court of Cassation and President of the Supreme Judiciary Council signed a memorandum of understanding with H.E. Mr Mustafa Ramid, Minister of Justice and Liberties and H.E. Mr Nizar Baraka, Minister of Economy and Finance in the Kingdom of Morocco. The MOU covers the declaration and organisation of financial assistance to be provided by Qatar in the construction project for the new headquarters of the Judiciary High Institute, which is one of the world's oldest judicial institutes, where courses on the basic constitution and specialised training of judges and jurists from Morocco and other Arab countries will be held.

​H.E. Mr Masoud Mohamed Al-Ameri, President of the Supreme Judiciary Council welcomed a judicial delegation from the Sultanate of Oman, presided by H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohamed Al Hadrami, Vice-President of the Supreme Court – Secretary General of the Secretariat of the Administrative Affairs Council for the Judiciary and the accompanying delegation. The Omani judicial delegation will visit the Supreme Judiciary Council in Qatar to learn about Qatari judiciary experience in the field of judicial administration from 11-15 March.
