The Finance Department has the following powers and duties:

  • Implementing financial laws and regulations related to financial matters.
  • Preparing the draft annual budget, in coordination with the relevant administrative units and monitoring its implementation.
  • Preparing and monitoring financial transactions related to projects and the operational budget.
  • Implementing credits and auditing the revenue account.
  • Auditing the revenues and expenditure of the treasury accounts and making related accounting reconciliations.
  • Coordinating with the financial control authorities regarding regulations and contracts and replying to the comments of these authorities on financial transactions.
  • Collecting legal fees and taking the required actions regarding the same.
  • Managing and auditing the court deposit account and court revenue account, and taking the required actions regarding the same.
  • Undertaking procurement, tendering and auction activities, according to the rules and regulations applicable in the State.
  • Estimating annual procurement needs, in coordination with the relevant administrative units.
  • Keeping and auditing all records and custody books, according to applicable regulations, rules and decisions.​
