A number of Qatari judges recently completed a training course in Washington DC, organised by the American International Judiciary Academy. The course included an introduction to the American justice system, a discussion about its experience in the field of alternative means of dispute resolution, an assessment of the feasibility of these means to facilitate the procedures for settling disputes from a practical perspective, resulting from the American experience in this regard, in addition to the mechanisms that help transfer this experience to litigation in Qatar. The programme also included field visits to the US Federal Supreme Court, Supreme Court of the District of Columbia, and several courts of first instance. Judges attended live hearings and met with some of its senior judges.
